being a republican-what it takes
I often wondered after listening to the Republicans in the House espoused endless lines of nonsense about how President Obama is destroying the country, disregarding and violating the constitution, and ruining America's freedom just what it takes to be a Republican.
First of all, you obviously cannot be a person who values and understands facts. Second, you cannot believe in scientific fact and you regard religion as fact-based and provable because it is based on the Bible. Nonsense like dinosaurs died off 6,000 years ago based on biblical "fact" so that the earth could be created in six days or seven, whatever.
In addition, you steadfastly do not represent the voters in your districts unless they are billionaires and you have offered to prostitute yourself and your family before the billionaire's crouch. You have no problem lying about your policies because you believe in nothing except obtaining money from special interests to promote their non-democratic ideas.
The idea of passing or supporting legislation to benefit the voters in your district or the country at large is foreign to you. You have no interest in studying legislative proposals, writing your constituents, or visiting the less fortunate in your district because you consider them to be idiots for electing you in the first place. Their only value is to continue voting for you based on the lies you tell and your lack of performance.in governing because history has shown that your voters are stupid enough to do just that,.
You continue to lie about your concern for excessive government spending after you help shut down the government wasting $25 billion dollars. Also you will never admit that President Obama has reduced the budget deficit or that the economy is improving despite your party's obstruction. You stand firm in rejecting any expenditures that will help the unemployed, fix infrastructure, fund the VA, fund the FAA, or deal with the immigration crisis.
You go home each night after attending another fundraiser to promote your reelection campaign and/or political actions committees you setup to enrich yourself and your family and look in the mirror and admire yourself for being a great patriot. You even dream of being elected president because you know how to lead the country to a better place.
A week of republicans
We have just finished a week of Republican blustering and lies, as usual. Texas Governor Rick Perry has dispatched the Texas National Guard to Texas to combat the invasion (according to Repubs) of minor children from Central America. I guess the guard is going to exercise riot control tactics against the children.
In another matter of the horrific Ukrainian plane disaster, the patriotic Repubs are blaming Obama, of course while they fund raise on the dead bodies still lying on the ground. Of course the clowns Sen. Graham and Sen McCain are advocating for selling arms to Ukraine and possibly sending troops as a means to show backbone in America's foreign policy. The fact that is could start a war is of no consequence to them since they never met a war they did not like.
All of this is going on while Republicans refuse to pass immigration laws, highway trust funds, infrastructure financing, and a jobs plan. Their entire agenda is to obstruct not govern and we all know what happens when they govern. They stand on the sidelines and throw rocks using such fools as Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh speak for them. They will not propose solutions to any problems because they don't have any except to get on their knees to the one per-centers.
But all of these actions are nothing new to the informed voter with a functioning brain. Unfortunately, for the Republican voter facts are based on opinions and voting for Republican candidates is a continuing tradition of screwing themselves but without a functioning brain they don't realize it. Pathetic!
