Tuesday, May 26, the voters of Montana elected a liar and criminal to the House. Greg Gianforte is a rich republican who could care less about the subsistence ranchers and farmers of Montana. Gianforte, funded by Big Oil and other special interests, the people of Montana made him lone the representative to DC to continue the GOP assault on America. These people voted for a republican after watching one hundred and fifty days of the Trump Administration's gross incompetence, racist Muslim Bans, tax cut proposals to benefit the rich, GOP proposals to gut the ACA, EPA, public education, send their sons/daughters back to war, and selloff the country's infrastructure.

Did I miss anything?

Do you have an explanation for such assine behavior? I doubt that anyone can explain such stupidity. Look at Kansas!  DetlefK at Demo. Underground stated that they don't care and he made some great points. I think it goes deeper; they are too stupid to care. They cannot "connect the dots" between their economic and social well being and the policies of the party of traitors who they continually vote for. 

For example in Montana, there are thousands of streams and rivers which are now thanks to curtailing the EPA are liable to be polluted by the oil, gas, and dying coal industry. Waterways which they use for drinking, fishing, vacationing, etc. Maybe they like unclean water. Maybe they don't mind lead, arsenic, or mercury in their drinking water. But they support a candidate and a party who doesn't give a damn about their concerns. How do you define that behavior? Maybe they have already drank too much contaminated water and are suffering from brain damage or maybe as Nance Greggs said at DU, they are just too stupid.

Whatever the case might be, it certainly does not bode well for this country moving forward. As an infamous old Soviet Union leader, Nikita Khrushchev, once said, "we will defeat you from without firing a shot." With a population of fools, I think he was prophetic. 

With the obvious evidence that Donald Trump has obstructed justice in his attempts to bribe James Comey, and Comey's subsequent firing because he refused to pledge loyalty to Trump the cry for impeachment grows louder. It ain't gonna happen.

Why, three basic reasons: 

1. First the Demos do not have the power to conduct the necessary investigations into the obstruction of justice charges. Also, the real Trump crimes are money laundering for the American and Russian mafias. Those crimes once proven require the justice department to prosecute. Does anyone believe this Sessions' controlled department will conduct an honest transparent investigation? Even by some strange miracle that the Senate and House investigating committees uncover the evidence, does anyone believe that Senator Burr who owns stock in Russian oil companies is going to cut his own throat? The House committees are being run by Trump Transition team members who collaborated with the Russians themselves. 

2. The GOP is only interested in getting tax cuts for their donors, the one percent, and will not do anything to Trump until he signs that legislation. They could decide to dump Trump for Pence but Pence as head of the transition team is just as guilty as Trump. Trump's crimes will implicate Pence soon who has been consistently lying about Flynn. 

3. The GOP base will continue to support Trump and down-ticket races as they are looking for the party to maintain its racial and gender bias politics and anti-progressive agenda. The base doesn't understand that they have been pawns for decades to the GOP southern strategy and neoliberal policies which have screwed them. Also, the Democratic Party is still hesitant to move left and provide consistent policy alternatives for the working classes of America. Their continued support of Wall Street and the top ten percent leaves a gigantic hole in the political discourse which even Bernie Sanders cannot fill. 

Optimistically, the Demos may capture one the House or Senate in 2018 but will they exercise that power to fully disgrace and remove the Trump Swamp? Time will tell but don't hold your breathe. 

A recent Neal Gabler - Bill Moyers' piece in Raw Story  "..Why we have become a failed country.." stated : 

The voters who elected and enabled them bear responsibility, too, not just for Trump but for every person who doesn’t get health care when they need it and for every baby who dies as a result, for every stream polluted by Trump’s rescission of Obama’s executive orders, for every family torn apart by Trump’s immigration policies, for every woman who dies of cancer because Planned Parenthood is to be defunded, for every worker who is injured or dies by Trump’s scaling back of workplace safety regulations, for every target of the hate speech that Trump has joyfully unleashed. We hear endlessly about the frustrations of the white working class who support Trump, but wounded white working-class pride doesn’t justify any of these things.

Barack Obama stated recently:  "You Get The Politicians You Deserve"  ​

“You get the politicians you deserve. And if you don’t vote and you don’t participate and you don’t pay attention, then you’ll get policies that don’t reflect your interests.”

These statements encapsulate the current predicament of the nation in which a uneducated, reality-averse population has elected a dysfunctional administration and cowardly Congress whose only interests is to protect the slime bag they erroneously call the president.  A man lacking in moral fiber, courage, and integrity. A man who masquerades as Al Capone and lacks the intelligence of the dumbest criminal. 

This year should mark the seventeenth year of a Democratic presidency but it marks the first year of a failed administration under the traitor and thief, Donald J. Trump.

Remember when stupid Americans criticized France for not supporting G.W. Bush's lies about WMDs in Iraq. Surely, you remember our thousands of dead soldiers and hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis and the wasted trillions of dollars. France just held an election contested by an overt Nazi sympathizer and a neoliberal banker turned politician.  The banker won handily but what does the future hold for France. One saving grace is that the people were smart enough or in the words of Moyers they possessed enough humanity to put their fellow citizens first.

America seems stuck in a time period of two hundred years ago where pillaging an indigenous village and kidnapping/enslaving  black bodies was the norm. Now we deny people healthcare, proper schooling, housing, human rights, all under the guise of "I earned my way on my own" in a government sanctioned system of racism and discrimination.  Now, America is a country of failing infrastructure, dying industries, growing inequality, and a special interest government incapable of addressing the simplest problems. A government of failure and neglect perpetuated by the selfish and the ignorant. America the Beautiful!! 

Tuesday, Trump fired James Comey, FBI Director, using Democratic talking points which criticized Comey's action in tilting the 2016 election toward Trump last October. This comes on the heels of Comey's inaccurate testimony before the Congress last week about Huma Abedin's computer email fiasco. His faulty testimony certainly shows some degree of incompetence in the handling of the Clinton matter and I don't regret his firing. But a more important reason for his firing might be the following: CNN reports that a grand jury has issued subpoenas in the FBI Russia investigation.

According to the press release: Washington (CNN)Federal prosecutors have issued grand jury subpoenas to associates of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn seeking business records, as part of the ongoing probe of Russian meddling in last year's election, according to people familiar with the matter. CNN learned of the subpoenas hours before President Donald Trump fired FBI director James Comey.

Is that a coincidence? I don't think so. The Senate has instructed the IRS to provide business records of Trump business ties. In addition, Senator Burr, of the Senate Intelligence Committee, is threatening to issues subpoenas to the WH for not turning over records of meetings between Trump campaign officials and the Russians.  

Also according to today's NY Times: 

"Days before he was fired, James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director, asked the Justice Department for a significant increase in money and personnel for the bureau’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the presidential election, according to three congressional officials who were briefed on his request."

So, Deputy AG Rosenstein was well aware of what Comey was doing and he was aware that the White House was the target. Engaging in a bit of speculation, it is plausible that Rosenstein informed Trump and the plan was set to fire Comey using Clinton's email and a bending of FBI procedures as the reasons for the termination. Trump feared what Comey would find and Trump is too dumb to realize that Comey's investigation will continue without Comey. Trump's hope now is to find a troll to replace Comey who will sweep everything under the rug.

All of this provides a backdrop to Trump's WH meeting today with his puppet-master, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who I am sure has new instructions from Putin on what Trump has to do to continue betraying the USA. Trump has come along way from being a money launderer for the American and Russian mafias through bogus real estate deals, now he faces exposure for being the country's greatest traitor surpassing even Ronald Reagan.

The GOP House just passed the American Healthcare Act, Trumpcare, to replace the hated Obamacare that insured seventeen million previously uninsured Americans. If it passes the Senate which it won't you will see twenty-four million people lose their health insurance leading to 44,000 more Americans dying each year according to The Washington Post. The other benefit you have won is the opportunity to pay higher premiums, lose coverage for pre-existing conditions, and maternal care for your pregnant teenage daughter who will no longer be able to obtain birth control and strips Medicaid funding so your elderly parent can be kicked out of the senior citizens nursing home. 

Pat yourself on the back that your infinite ignorance has allowed you to elect people who don't serve your interests. Rejoice in the fact that you have given billionaires huge tax breaks while you die because of the lack of medical coverage. You can rejoice further in that you ended the socialist, Kenyan borne Obama healthcare bill, originally written by Republicans, from saving your life and avoiding medical bankruptcy. 

You have much to celebrate now and still more to look forward to with Trump's tax plan on the horizon. You know that one I am sure, the one that gives billionaires more tax breaks and increases the deficit by trillions while cutting food stamps, infrastructure, research funding etc. But remember just one thing, if you get sick, die quick!!
