a failed nation

A recent Neal Gabler - Bill Moyers' piece in Raw Story  "..Why we have become a failed country.." stated : 

The voters who elected and enabled them bear responsibility, too, not just for Trump but for every person who doesn’t get health care when they need it and for every baby who dies as a result, for every stream polluted by Trump’s rescission of Obama’s executive orders, for every family torn apart by Trump’s immigration policies, for every woman who dies of cancer because Planned Parenthood is to be defunded, for every worker who is injured or dies by Trump’s scaling back of workplace safety regulations, for every target of the hate speech that Trump has joyfully unleashed. We hear endlessly about the frustrations of the white working class who support Trump, but wounded white working-class pride doesn’t justify any of these things.

Barack Obama stated recently:  "You Get The Politicians You Deserve"  ​

“You get the politicians you deserve. And if you don’t vote and you don’t participate and you don’t pay attention, then you’ll get policies that don’t reflect your interests.”

These statements encapsulate the current predicament of the nation in which a uneducated, reality-averse population has elected a dysfunctional administration and cowardly Congress whose only interests is to protect the slime bag they erroneously call the president.  A man lacking in moral fiber, courage, and integrity. A man who masquerades as Al Capone and lacks the intelligence of the dumbest criminal. 

This year should mark the seventeenth year of a Democratic presidency but it marks the first year of a failed administration under the traitor and thief, Donald J. Trump.

Remember when stupid Americans criticized France for not supporting G.W. Bush's lies about WMDs in Iraq. Surely, you remember our thousands of dead soldiers and hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis and the wasted trillions of dollars. France just held an election contested by an overt Nazi sympathizer and a neoliberal banker turned politician.  The banker won handily but what does the future hold for France. One saving grace is that the people were smart enough or in the words of Moyers they possessed enough humanity to put their fellow citizens first.

America seems stuck in a time period of two hundred years ago where pillaging an indigenous village and kidnapping/enslaving  black bodies was the norm. Now we deny people healthcare, proper schooling, housing, human rights, all under the guise of "I earned my way on my own" in a government sanctioned system of racism and discrimination.  Now, America is a country of failing infrastructure, dying industries, growing inequality, and a special interest government incapable of addressing the simplest problems. A government of failure and neglect perpetuated by the selfish and the ignorant. America the Beautiful!!
