the gop is the bottom of the barrel

As a veteran and loyal American it really discusses me when I hear a Republican speaking on television or radio. It is like being told that the knife just placed in your back does not hurt and is really good for your health. I am assumed to be a complete idiot who ignores the pain and the blood ruining down my shirt. Republicans assume that I am so stupid that what and hear and see with my own eyes is not reality, that the only truth is their truth. 

Just consider for a moment the circus surrounding Gov. Christie. For months since his reelection, we have been pelted with images of a great leader and a man who gets things done. A standout among the other roadkill of GOP potential 2016 presidential candidates. But alas, the story is emerging that Christie is nothing but a common bully and criminal. A man who threatens through his underlings the citizens of New Jersey, bullies teachers, and unions, lowers the taxes of the wealthy at the expense of the working class people, glorifies his ego by wasting millions of dollars on self-serving commercials, and other deeds soon to be revealed. And yet as all of these despicable acts are uncovered, he is still the leading candidate of the GOP candidates. 

So what can be concluded about the GOP of 2014? A party that supports the wealthy at the expense of the poor, a party that denies food to poor children and seniors while defending oil depletion allowances for oil companies. A party that denies science, climate change, women rights, and supports second class status for all minorities and women. A party that rationalizes slavery as just a passing fantasy of America's violent pass and claims progressive change to improve the country is tantamount to Hitler's Germany.

This is the modern GOP. A party given legitimacy by a donor class of  racists, greedy billionaires and supported by low-intelligence whites (and some minorities) who are the fodder (the Tea Party) for demonstrating what the donor class says represents true patriotism. If these characteristics don't qualify as "the bottom of the barrel", then I don't know what does.
