Why can't we do this?

Sometimes I sit back and wonder why America is so fucked up. We all know about and have heard about, unless you are a Fox News viewer, the racism, economic inequality, dysfunctional government, pathetic prison system, and our loophole-filled tax system but have you ever wondered what things would be like if we did something different? 

For example, on economic inequality, say we require all states to charge corporations and LLCs a minimum tax of say twenty percent and stop the tax rebate/deferral scam which allows corporations to make states bid against each other for the jobs and economic growth. A portion of the tax revenue will be used to offset property tax paid by homeowners, improve infrastructure, fund education and health programs, etc. in those states. Couple this with a national minimum wage of fifteen dollars per hour with yearly increases of  four percent, for example. That way the playing field is more level for all states. Also workers can unionize freely. Of course, there will exist a single payer health system. Add legalized marijuana which is heavily taxed and states economic future becomes much brighter. 

Another example is the pathetic prison system. Instead of locking people in jail for years for economic crimes and forgetting about them, excluding bankers, why don't we institute a mandatory educational and skills training system in those prisons. (Eliminate for-profit prisons immediately). Make the prisons truly re-habitation centers and not persecution centers. Stop locking people up for minor drug possession. Revamp housing policies that aide to low income instead of penalizing them. Build affordable housing in urban centers even if it has to be government(state, county or city) owned. Homelessness costs governments more than providing affordable housing nd putting them in prison is insanity.

Finally, on our tax system we need a totally new approach. First eliminate all deductions dealing with non-family factors. Tax all income as income, no more carried interest crap! Corporations can only deduct expenses for wages, research and development, and major fixed costs for equipment and expansion in the United States. Executives paid more that 250 times the lowest worker salary will pay higher taxes. No more corporate deductions for CEO pay packages or laying off workers. Also all workers will be given shares in the company stock plus have movable pensions. Add to this a guaranteed minimum income for the unemployed and underemployed. 

These are just three examples but I don't here our worthless political leaders talking about anything that will help the 99%, do you?
